A magnificent time for baby portraits is approximately between 6-9 months of age because they can't crawl away and they are so happy. Babies are content sitting and directing their attention towards the camera lens. They come in cheerful and can hold their own for quite a while before thinking about the next nap. That’s just perfect for a couple of clothing and background changes. Here’s one of my favorite studio baby sessions. This sweet little girl and her family were a delight to photograph.

Bridal Shows!

Well, we had our first show this past weekend! The Houston Wedding Showcase at George R Brown Convention Center, downtown on Saturday was a big hit! We saw newly engaged couples scrambling to plan their dream weddings. It was a great event and we were proud to exhibit this year.

Next on the list this month is the Premier Wedding Showcase at the Galveston Island Convention Center next door to the San Luis Resort. On Sunday, March 14, 2010 from 11am-4pm we will be exhibiting our boudoir photography. Look for Intimate Expression Photography and our gorgeous pink and black set-up! We have new 'Little Black Book' promos and we are offering bridal show specials all day!

Premier Bride Magazine (local Houston market owner) submitted our preliminary shots for the upcoming winter/spring fashion spread to the national office last week. After a few days to review, the local market owner, Jennifer Schafer, was asked if she would release these images to all 40 cities for consideration. What an honor!

Last week, we finished shooting the covers for Premier Bride Magzine. The publisher asked Kat Mack Photography to participate in 3 of the 4 covers for the January issues! We were thrilled to shoot for the Houston, Austin and San Antonio covers.

The gown designer is a local couture designer located in Rick's Bridal Couture, downtown Houston.

We can't wait to show off the new and exciting cover shots and our new AD that appears on news stands soon!

I love when I get to go experience new things! Last week I attended the Texas School of Photography for an in depth education in the art of weddings and portrait photography. My instructors were the renowned Rick and Deb Ferro. www.rickferro.com I cant even begin to say what a career inspiring week it has been for me. I learned all sorts of new tips and techniques that will allow me to expand the scope of my creativity. Not only did the Ferros encourage my new knowledge, they also gave me huge amount of engouragement and support for the work that I am currently doing.
I just can't thank the Ferros enough for everything they are...

I have a firm policy....no wheel barrel... no library back drop!!!! I have successfully maintained my rules!! This is not quite a day in the life, but it is a great studio depiction of this households personality.

I recently shot Kathleen and her "kids" (with paws). Cowboy is getting older and Kathleen wanted to have some photos for her home and office. We spent the afternoon catching the relationship between the Dog-Mom and Dog-Kids..

Lola is the lab.... she is full of energy! She has the ability to focus on one thing so intently.. as if she mind melds with you, you are compelled to get treats!

Cowboy, the color version of "blue dog", is selectively deaf... In the beginning of the shoot he was very curious about all the photography stuff... but the idea of a nap quickly won out!

What do you get the parent who has everything, and 2 of everything else??

Mom and Dad have 3 dogs, oh yea, and Katie. What a great gift idea this is then!

We shot Katie with Chester, Mini, and Snowball. Katie chose about 40 images to go into her 7x7 book. These books are really nice. Hard bound, 4 color press, professionally printed, its going to be a huge hit with m&d. I can't wait to hear what the reaction is when they open their gift!
I have been advertising in my vets office for the pet/family paw-trait series and Katie called me to do a special x-mas gift for her parents.
